Harvesting Cranberries FAQ
What is cranberry harvesting?
Cranberry harvesting involves collecting cranberries off of the cranberry vines from our bogs using fresh (dry) and water harvesting methods. Fresh fruit harvest is for cranberries to be sold as fresh fruit (bagged cranberries ) and water-harvested cranberries are sent to a fruit processor to IQF (individually quick freeze) for value-added products for ingredients, sweetened dried cranberries, etc.
When is the harvest season?
How do you harvest cranberries?
What varieties of cranberries do you grow?
We focus on sustainable practices, ensuring our cranberries are grown and harvested using traditional methods as our grandparents did on Cape Cod, MA
Our harvest season typically runs from late September to the end of October, depending on weather conditions.
We use both dry and water harvesting for our Stevens and Howes varieties of cranberries. The third variety, Pilgrims, are primarily a "juice" berry and go to the processor.
